It’s that time of year, jingle all the way, and every reskin game that comes with it in the world of slot games.

This year is no exception within the gambling space; there have been some great reskins of provider classics, some lazy ones, and, to my shock and horror, new Christmas-inspired titles.

I don’t want to feel like I’m droning on about reskin games. Still, you can check out our reviews of some titles here. I want to give some honourable mentions to providers such as Arcadem, Yggdrasil, and, to my surprise, Netent for having fun playing Christmas titles this year.

Nevertheless, let’s step back and analyse how gambling relates to the holidays. In my native country, the UK, gambling has always been an integral part of the culture and is closely associated with holidays.

In my time as a support agent for a gambling company, the Christmas season was one of the strangest. Still, it is one of the fun times of the year, and this remained the same as a Casino Games Manager working on the provider side. During Christmas day, for example, I had people send me free bet poems based on me being Santa’s free bet elf (I gave this person a free bet just for being creative). Many Scotsmen called me one of the people because of my surname. I also had some conversations with truly lonely customers, which made me empathise that the holiday period is not fun for all within the gambling community.

What’s great about the gambling community is that we’re mostly social, especially with the rise of gambling streamers. I have always encouraged people who experienced downs during the holidays to visit places like that and talk to other community members.

Gambling, when used responsibly and in a social context, can be fun, whether it’s football over Christmas week or cards with the family. The activity should, however, be enjoyed in moderation as a leisure activity. For those feeling it gets to them, as mentioned, streams are a helpful tool, but some charities, such as Gamecare, can be an ear for you.

So when you’re enjoying your boxing day leftovers, watching the football, praying your horse gets out of the stalls, or playing the latest reskin slot Christmas classic, remember it’s all for fun, and when that stops, take a break yourself, and enjoy the holiday season.
