I have been working in the online gambling industry for a long time now, and these are just a few stories that come out when we are having a drink after ICE.
Today’s tale comes from my time working in an online casino team and having to deal with abuse, being told to get cancer, etc.
One customer would always abuse the support team massively during every contact he made. His queries were always about slots and how we scammed him with every spin.
Now, for context, he would only ever do 10p spins on a slot and only do 20 spins on a game before he called to complain he was losing. I want all readers to remember that slot RTP (Return to Player) is based on billions of spins, so if you’re only doing 20 spins on a game, it’s not an accurate representation of the RTP.
So one day, I was getting fed up with being asked over and over again to check this player’s account for support, as frankly, I had better things to do, like run the casino. So I check his chat logs and see him calling agents (Only the Female ones) ‘Sluts, whores, cancer etc’, which makes me decide to contact him.
As soon as he picks up and I put him through security and explain I’m part of the casino team, his attitude does a 180, he’s very nice but advises me, ‘Those sluts in support don’t know their stuff, and he’s happy to speak to the man in the casino team’. Immediately, I advised him I was closing his account for abuse, that he shouldn’t treat my colleagues the way he has, that we don’t want his business and that his account is now closed.
After telling me to get cancer, die, and he will beat me up. I calmly told him to have a great day and laughed my arse off with the support team afterwards at his attempt to keep playing at a casino he appeared to hate so much.
The above aside, I’d like to say to all players, treat support, dealers or whoever with respect. Sometimes, lady luck isn’t on your side, but you shouldn’t take it out on others, and you wouldn’t want people to do the same to you for something that’s not your fault. Respect and manners get you everywhere, or the occasional free bet.
See you soon
