These stories come from years of working in the gambling industry.
This is about a scammer and gave me the absolute pleasure of proving they were one.
I was back on calls again, slow Sunday with the football playing away in the background, and I had a customer come through claiming to have been scammed out of money on live casino blackjack. They made 3 x £1,000 hands, and their money was taken, and they didn’t pay £6,000 of winnings with screenshots to prove this.
Right away, I thought it was strange they’d take screenshots as they play a round of live black, as it’s a fast-moving game, and you have only a set amount of time to lock your decisions in, but I started to investigate.
After reviewing the player’s logs, I can see that 3 x £10 hands were played and that the player won as the dealer bust and was credited accordingly. However, they were adamant they had proof of the £1,000 bets and wished to complain about myself, the casino and the game formally.
I log the complaint accordingly and escalate it to the complaints team.
So the next day rolled around, and I was approached by the complaints manager, who honestly didn’t have a clue about any of the games we had at the casino or how to search for anything. They told me they offered the customer £1,000 in compensation if they ended the complaint here, as there was no proof apart from their screenshots of winning this money.
The customer refused, and the manager was here to ask me why I gave the customer so much attitude…. As you can imagine, this made me want to go out of my way to prove the scam.
So, an hour later, I approached the complaints manager with proof that the customer had doctored the value on the screenshots and was committing fraud; I then had the immense pleasure of hearing the complaints manager call them and tell them so, with them then hanging up.
It just goes to show if you are a scammer, quit while you’re ahead and take the free £1,000 you were offered, and 2, don’t piss off someone who can prove you’re a scammer.
See you soon
